HON FRANCIS ASENSO BOAKYE INAUGURATES GOVERNING BOARD OF ENGINEERING COUNCIL

The minister for works and housing and MP for bantama council this morning,  inaugurated the governing board of the Engineering Council. 

The Council is the body mandated to regulate the practice of engineering practitioners through two(2) licensed bodies; the Ghana Institution of Engineering(GhIE) and Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). 

This is to primarily help distinguish between the various categories of professional practices — that is, individual practitioners, engineering firms, engineering educational units and licensing bodies from the unprofessional bodies or individual practitioners. This is necessary to protect the public and maintain confidence in the profession for national development. 

He entreated the new Board to leverage on it's vast knowledge and experience to enrich the strategic decisions of the Council to enable it deliver on its mandate as enshrined in the Engineering Act.

The engineering profession is at the heart of national development, and continues to transform every aspect of human lives. The practice is therefore critical in addressing the needs of society including the creation of jobs through innovation and technology, and as such, my Ministry will do all it can to support their activities.
