EducationGhana| January 24| Basic School Academic Calendar 2021/22: The Ministry of Education has released an error written Academic Calendar for the 2021/22 Academic Year for Basic Scool Students.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Education on January 21, 2022, indicated that following the directives to commence the semester system, the Ministry has received representation from a section of the public and key educational stakeholders to re-instate the Trimester system.

Anomalies

A critical look at the Ministry’s New Academic Calendar seems to suggest that students were supposed to stay in school for 40 weeks within the academic year.

The 40 weeks according to the ministry includes; 12 weeks for term one, 14 weeks for term two and another 14 weeks for term three.

But further clarifications suggest that the students shall be staying in school for 43 weeks instead of the 40 weeks being indicated by the Ministry of Education.

This includes a 13-week stay in school for term one, which starts from the 18th of January to the 14th of April 2022.

The second term shall comprise a 15-week stay in school instead of 14 weeks being advertised by the Ministry. This refers to school beginning from the 10TH of May to the 18th of August 2022.

The third term shall also comprise of a 15-week duration instead of the earlier duration of 14 weeks being said by the Ministry of Education . This calculation includes a starting day of 19th August to 12th September 2022.
