Francis Asenso-Boakye is a Ghanaian politician and businessman, the Minister for Works and Housing, and a former Deputy Chief of Staff and Political Assistant to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.


He was born in Kumasi and hails from Bantama in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.


Francis Asenso-Boakye was a student activist while a student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a member of the New Patriotic Party forming the tertiary students’ wing of the party, the Tertiary Students Confederacy of the New Patriotic Party (TESCON).


He holds a Masters's Degree in Public Policy and Administration as a Rotary Scholar at the Michigan State University, Michigan, USA.


Francis Asenso-Boakye has worked at the Delta Acquisitions and Development, the Ministry of Employment and Social Welfare, Michigan House of Representatives, Global Media Alliance, Tema Export Processing Zone as a manager, Ghana Free Zones Board as a planning officer, Ghana Investment Promotion Center as a research analyst.


He was also a policy and research associate in the Office of State Representative and to the Michigan Legislative Black Caucus (MLBC) – Michigan House of Representatives, USA. He became the Political Assistant of President Akufo-Addo until he became a member of Parliament.


Francis Asenso-Boakye was appointed in January 2017 as Deputy Chief of Staff and political assistant at the Flagstaff House by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.


He also won the Bantama NPP primaries against the incumbent Daniel Okyem Aboagye in the 2020 general elections.
